Big news! I’m doing my biggest sale ever. I don’t usually do sales, as my profit margins are already razor-thin; however, I need to raise funds kind of… urgently!
If you know me personally, you’ve probably heard me say that it’s always been my dream to go to Japan. I read a lot of manga and watched loads of anime in high school, and although I don’t anymore, my love for all things cute has never waned - which I assume transpires in my jewellery designs and inspiration I share as well.
I was meant to have gone in 2020, before I started Luneta and while I was still working at Amazon (definitely more affluent times for me!). Then covid hit, so I had to cancel my travel plans. At the end of 2021, I quit Amazon to focus on Luneta, and I couldn’t afford to take the trip again until now.
I managed to find a good deal for the tickets and, thanks to my full-time day job, I have managed to save enough to finally go in February. Yesterday, sadness: I submitted my tax return for 2024-2025, and found out I owe about £1200 to His Majesty… which is pretty much all I had saved for my trip.
My lack of fiscal knowledge* is your gain, though, as I’m doing this sale so I can pay my taxes and eat more than instant noodles on my trip! If you live in Europe, I’m sorry, I still can’t ship there due to GPSR! Thanks, Brexit! If you live in the US, I can ship there now, but I had to add an upfront customs fee to the shipping fee. It’ll seem like loads of money for shipping, but I’d refund you for any overcharges - it’s just to ensure the upfront customs fees are covered, besides the shipping fee. Thanks, Trump!

*I still can’t understand how I could have earned so little that year and have to pay this much in taxes? Did my major in Economics teach me nothing? (Accounting was indeed my worst subject, so this makes total sense.)
